Brooklyn resident and ‘Made in the Brooklyn’ advocate, designer Fiona Kempton infuses her collection of bags with influences from her childhood in England.  She also gives them a tech-friendly, functional purpose. Kempton started sewing little handbags out of her mother’s Liberty fabrics after being gifted a sewing machine at the age of six.  Also recalling her experiences with her father as horse trainer and jockey, she injects Equestrian-inspired details, such as horsehair tassels or recycled postal bag canvas that reminds her of the heavy waxed fabric used for horses’ rain rugs.
